THE LAST RUN
The Fall Winter 2022 collection is inspired by Après-ski, a term that became popular in the Alps during the ski advertising boom of the 1950s. Defining socialising and entertainment after a day on the slopes, après-ski in any of its forms is the most anticipated time of day –from champagne toasts and haute cuisine on the slopes of St. Moritz to craft beers around campfires in Aspen. The term The Last Run gives name to the collection, a superstitious term that refers to the very last lap in the snow before sunset. Defining a turning point in the ski day, it also serves as a call to action for climate change.
With the progressive disappearance of seasonality and temperatures’ incongruity, Carlota Barrera maintains the brand’s DNA presenting functional and timeless pieces. The cold and warm colours of nature alongside the brand’s essential black and navy are reflected in the collection’s palette. Weather maps as characteristic prints and embroidered isothermal lines invade some of the details of the collection. Overlays, monochromatic winter looks with short-sleeved pieces and shorts translate the climatic incoherence to the garments. Carlota Barrera defines her vision of contemporary craftsmanship with handmade repurposed leather pieces, denim sets are reinvented and refined and the label’s codes are revealed once again in technical suits
