PD & PRODUCTION INTERNSHIP

The Carlota Barrera Team is looking for a highly motivated and organised production intern to join our team this spring 2024 semester.. The successful candidate will be expected to work across all RTW product categories from design handover to delivering production. This will require strong organisational skills as well as the passion and drive to create innovative, market leading products.

This role will report to the Head of Production.
The internship duration is 4 to 6 months.


ROLE & MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the design team in translating ideas in products

  • Work closely with other members of development and production teams to plan project development according to the seasonal structure that lead to on–time delivery of sales samples and production confirmation

  • Archiving / boxing and recording samples 

  • Prepare all bulk fabric and trim colour approvals for Senior Production Coordinator and Creative Director to review and follow up with feedback comments to relevant team members

  • Responsible for getting all the raw material information (cost, composition, etc) from our suppliers 

  • Support on entering raw materials information in RML system, following the Calendar deadlines 

  • Participate in meetings and improve project workflows in order to guide design and sampling team and ensure proper development at all stages while meeting cost, quality and brand objectives

  • Research of new materials and techniques

  • Ongoing assessment of existing supplier base and sourcing of new suppliers that offer competitive pricing, good quality product in line with margin requirements and order volumes

  • Create and maintain tech packs and BOMs. Continuously update and maintain the BOM on internal system throughout the product’s lifecycle

  • Assist on comments on prototypes, pre-production- and production samples when needed and assist on technical development of assigned styles from design concept through to production-ready hand-off, ensuring both fit and technical engineering meet or exceed expectations

  • Help ensuring all samples are received on time and preparing deliveries to factories and suppliers (track all packages sent & to be received) 

  • Constantly review and implement new processes and structures to improve organisation, communication and effectiveness

  • Create and maintain all product information on Zedonk throughout the development process

  • Extract Production Orders from internal system

  • Update Production deliveries docs weekly, scheduling 100% Quality Control

  • Assist where necessary the Wholesale team with the upload and maintenance of style and SKU details on line sheets

  • Support the Wholesale team with ad-hoc administration tasks during and after selling periods including sample and showroom preparation

  • Post selling assist the wholesale team in preparing and sending bulk factory POs and production reports

  • Ensure all admin, invoices & reporting are kept up to date

  • Supporting on special projects, made in house, capsules and collaborations as required

REQUIREMENTS

  • Studying a design or development focused design degree

  • Desire to develop career in product development

  • This position requires excellent organisational and project management skills

  • Excellent computer skills, including CAD, Photoshop, Adobe & Illustrator.

  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to take the initiative.

  • Professional and good time-management

  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work to multiple deadlines.

  • Trend-focused with an eye for detail.

  • Flexible working approach, diligent, team player able to adapt to the needs of the team.

  • Passionate about the Carlota Barrera brand

  • Strong interest in fashion business and general knowledge of the fashion industry

  • Must be able to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong command of the English and Spanish language, both spoken and written

  • Available 4-5 days a week

  • School credit required
